Opis
In the nature reserve Rockebro, between Laxå and Askersund, the inland ice has created an exciting and remarkable landscape with ridges, hills and depressions. There are several kettle holes in the area. They appeared when ice blocks were broken away from the large body of ice and bedded into the gravel deposits. When they later melted they created large potholes. The largest pothole is today a lake – Gropsjön. Others are water-filled at certain times of the year.
In the area are many exciting plants such as bog asphodel, bell heather and bog pondweed, but also northern species like bog rush. Additionally, you can find all four species of the insectivorous leaves as well as several orchid species in the marsh. In some of the bodies of water in the reserve, the greater newt lives.
