THE ROCK CRYSTAL MINE
Small rock crystals remain in the crushed rock piles outside the mine and it is exciting to try to find a nice specimen to take home as a souvenir. However, it is forbidden to mine crystals from the solid rock.
DESCRIPTION
The road up to the mine follows the old work route of the miners and you can see the remains of two cabins where they lived. Rock crystals were mined here from the 1940s until 1952. The beautiful quartz crystals are found in a pegmatite vein up to 10 m thick and 100 m long. The perfect crystals were to be used in radios called crystal sets which were sought after at the time.
The traces of mining are visible in the terrain, several mine openings and slag heaps up towards the top. The easiest place to find crystals is in the blasted masses below the mine itself. However, a large part of the rock crystals are unfortunately milky due to careless blasting. Many crystals have a coating of iron hydroxide that can be washed off with hydrochloric acid. It is allowed to take small single rock crystals from the crushing piles as souvenirs. However, it is absolutely forbidden to mine crystals from the solid rock. The trip up to the mine is 3 kilometers one way.

Napęd Krutfjellsvägen w kierunku Hattfjelldal. 16 km do Norwegii po przejściu gospodarstwa z, między innymi, stodołą z felgami samochodowymi, a także większy garaż, można przejść mały most. Bezpośrednio po moście znajduje się parking po lewej stronie i szlak zaczyna się do Kryształowej Kopalni. To 3 km wspinaczka do górnego lasu brzozy.
