New dietary recommendation due to PFAS in fish:

Analysis results show increased concentration of PFOS in fish from lake Trummen, Växjösjön and Södra and Norra Bergundasjön and the levels exceed the EU's health-based guideline limits. This means that those who eat a lot of fish from the lakes risk consuming too much of this and similar substances, the so-called PFAS, in the long run. Ingesting a lot of PFAS for a long time can be harmful to your health. According to Växjö municipality's dietary recommendation, one should therefore not eat fish from these lakes more than one (1) to three (3) times per year. The advice applies to everyone, both children and adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women. This applies until further notice.

Parking at entrances Vallaviken, Sundet and Petersburg.

Just west of district Teleborg in Växjö. The entire lake is part of the Nature reserve Bokhultet.

You are welcome to visit the nature reserve, but please note that it is not allowed to:

1. damage natural objects or surfaces, for example by digging, drilling, hacking or painting
2. fell, cut, pull up, pick or otherwise damage living or dead trees, shrubs, plants, fungi, mosses or lichens (berries, herbs and terrestrial edible fungi may be picked for domestic use)
3. collect insects, shells, worms or other animals without the approval of the Reserve Manager
4. driving or parking a motorized vehicle or trailer other than on the designated road and parking area
5. stay overnight without the approval of the Reserve Manager
6. make a fire other than in a designated, prepared fireplace
7. disturbing wildlife by, for example, approaching a nesting site
8. operate jet skis, hovercraft, water skis, paragliders or drones
9. April 1 to July 31, stay in the areas marked on the map as bird protection areas
10. fishing with nets or fixed gear
11. bring an unleashed dog with the exception of the training area of the working dog club or an area designated by the manager through signage
12. for more than one day, anchor, moor or moor a boat (or other vessels) in a place other than at piers designated by Växjö municipality.
13. after 2020, drive a boat with a two-stroke engine.

Other legislation for what you are allowed to do in the forest and land also applies in the nature reserve.
