Sjön Mien

The unusually round and deep Lake Mien was found to be the site of a large meteorite impact that occurred about 50 million years ago. Ramsö (an island) in Lake Mien consists of rocks previously interpreted as volcanically formed. Eventually, it was understood that the volcano-like rocks arose through a completely different geological process - the impact of a large meteorite. For those interested in geology, both a trip around and on the lake can be of interest.
