The bathing area at Sandskog is a good introduction to Madkroken. Blueing coniferous forests are reflected in dark water surfaces. Pike, burbot, whitefish and vendace are among the fish. Eurasian bittern, great crested grebe and common snipe also thrive at the lake. At Åkvarn, the mouth of Mörrumsån is often visited by otters.
