The site was used as a burial ground during the Late Iron Age (500-1050 AD). The dead were burned at the stake along with some grave goods. The gifts could be clothes, jewellery, tools and weapons. There are also examples of bringing a dog or some other animal into the grave. The grave was then built on top of the remains of the funeral pyre. Sometimes the ashes were collected in a ceramic vessel that was buried. At the edge of the burial field with burial mounds, there is a shipwreck. The grave is from the same time as the other graves but has the shape of a ship.

A couple of hundred meters after the bridge, a small path goes down to the left between some houses. Park most easily at Bolmsö school and then walk. Follow the fence next to the path towards the lake about 100m.
NOTE! Respect the private land next door.
