Pilgrimsled, Munkaleden

Munkaleden is a pilgrimage trail that follows the same route that the monks from Nydala Abbey are said to have walked when they visited the nunnery in Byarum. It is part of the pilgrimage route between Santiago de Compostela in Spain and Nidaros/Trondheim in Norway. The trail is 40 km long and covers varied terrain. There is also an alternative trail between Tallnäs and Byarum that is 20 km. Along the trail are information boards about the surrounding nature and historical sites, as well as meditation spots. The trail is open for hiking 1/5-30/9. Cycling is prohibited along Munkaleden trail.
