Igelsjön, Naturreservat

The reserve is named after the small lake at its northern end. The lake is a nutrient-poor calcareous lake with shores of gungfly. Species of sedge and reed grow on the gungflats. The semi-grass Gotland grass is also found here, which is unusual this far north in the country. There are no paths in the area, so you can roam freely here.

Golden moss and marsh marigold

Igelsjön is located 10 km southeast of Gävle and 1 km south of Kubbo village and covers 16 hectares. The forested parts of the reserve show coniferous forest in the north and deciduous forest in the south.

In connection with the rich marshes, there are species with exciting names such as sausage scorpion moss, golden moss and marsh moss. The calcareous environment is also home to the orchid yellow saxifrage. In the deciduous forest section, you can find, among other things, ring lichen and the orchids knotweed and guckusko.

Animals in Igelsjön

Various species of molluscs and beetles have been reported from the area, including the broad-edged diver and the calcareous bog snail.
