Garpenbergs arboretum

Garpenberg Arboretum is a small botanical park with a number of unusual trees and plants, mainly conifers such as spruces and thujas. It is a little hidden behind large trees, but those who take the time to stop and enter the area will find that there is much to see. At both entrances there are signs describing how the arboretum looked after new plantings in the 1970s. After the path, there are also signs telling you which plants you are passing.

The arboretum is located in an area designated as a park on a map from 1854. At that time, the area belonged to Garpenberg's mill and was part of the manor park. Later, the area came to belong to Skogshögskolan and in the 1970s, under their auspices, a major inventory and replanting was carried out in the area.
