Slåtterängen på Husby klack

Husby klack is a small natural area close to residential areas that is largely densely overgrown with deciduous trees and shrubs. But a small part of the hill is a valuable and species-rich hay meadow managed by the Nature Conservation Association in Söderköping. Through annual haymaking, the association creates the conditions for the endangered wood anemone to survive on the site. The honeysuckle flowers in the spring, and can usually be seen as early as April. Mowing benefits not only the wood anemone but also other plant species that are typical of meadows. The meadow, in turn, benefits insects and animals by providing a habitat and food.

The meadow is a perfect place to learn about a piece of cultural history, how farmers used to farm their land, the importance of the meadow in the old farming landscape and how important it is for biodiversity today.
