Beskrivelse
The moraine-covered island is covered with old natural forest, mainly coniferous forest with old trees, barns and dry trees. Several fungi worthy of protection have been noted on Svalgarn. If you are interested in birds, there are nesting ospreys and bitterns on the island. Alstrand forest grows along the shores.

Veibeskrivelse
The reserve consists of an island in Norra Björkfjärden, 7 kilometers west of Bro. It is only possible to get to the reserve by boat.
Forskrifter
To protect the Svalgarn Nature Reserve, there are rules you must follow.
In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- destroy or damage solid natural objects or surfaces, for example by digging, drilling, carving, blasting or painting
- break branches, fell or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs and otherwise damage vegetation by digging up plants such as rice, herbs, mosses or lichens or removing woody fungi
- disturbing wildlife (e.g. by climbing trees, trapping or killing mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians)
- bringing an unleashed dog or cat
- camping
- making an open fire
- affixing a board, poster, placard, sign or similar device
