Adventure from mountain to coast
Malmens väg is a historic road from the year 1745, when iron ore was shipped from the mines in Gällivare/Malmberget to Strömsund in Råneå, which is located on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia.
On April 1, 1995, the King of Sweden reopened the Ore Road and opened it for the public to explore the historic trail from mountain to coast.
Today, the ancient road is used as a ski trail and snowmobile trail. Along Malmens väg there are both shelters and picnic huts with fireplaces indoors and prepared barbecue stands outdoors.
The trail also connects other trail systems where travelers can explore fishing lakes, viewpoints, rest huts run by local associations.
