Beskrivelse
Håmansmaren is a coastal area with a few small lakes and marshes that are heavily affected by limestone. The purpose of the protection is to preserve the rich marshes and lakes with their valuable plant and animal life. There are no paths or facilities in the area. Håmansmaren covers an area of 16.7 hectares. Most of the nature reserve consists of wetland and woodland and is located about 12 kilometers northeast of Gävle. The area is also a Natura 2000 site.
The shallow ponds are characterized by the limestone-rich water and contain several unusual aquatic creatures such as larvae of the lemon-spotted dragonfly, diving beetles, water scorpions and leeches.
Plants in the area
Several rare species of sedges and orchids grow in the marshes and the surrounding forest. The threatened yellow orchid has its northernmost occurrence in Europe here, and the red-listed sedge is unexpectedly common.

Forskrifter
Special rules apply in the nature reserve. It is not allowed to:
- drive a motorized vehicle
- take firewood. Burning is only permitted if you have brought your own firewood
- felling or otherwise damaging living or dead standing or fallen trees and bushes
- damage, pick or collect plants, fungi, algae and lichens
- climbing nest trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow, collecting animals or otherwise harming or disturbing wildlife
- put up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or make an inscription
- damage solid objects or surfaces, such as moving or removing stones, digging, or similar
- use the area for organized competitions
- using the area for military exercises.
