Avstickare till Rödklitten

Just north of Mädan there is a detour about 700 meters from the trail up the mountain Rödklitten. Here is an ancient castle with an outstanding view of Gaviksfjärden. Here you can experience the wings of history. During the Iron Age, this type of inaccessible mountain with steep rock walls was used as a refuge in times of trouble when it was easier to defend yourself here. Even today, remains of the castle's protective wall can be seen on the least steep side of the mountain, i.e. where the path goes up to the top. Rödklitten, which has been designated a World Heritage Site, is also interesting from a botanical perspective, as it is a so-called southern plant mountain with a rich flora.
