Baksjöbäcken

Baksjöbäcken is home to over a hundred thousand pearl mussels. The reserve with its lakes and waterways is located just outside Åsele and is well worth a visit.

There are several completely natural and unaffected stretches of stream where over 200-year-old mussels hide. In other parts of the stream there are traces of old log flumes from the logging era.

The reserve has paths that follow the stream and bridges where you can cross it. At Stor-Baksjön there is a barbecue area and several other facilities managed by the local fishing club.
