Beskrivelse
Uddarp is part of the Skånska Landscape Foundation's popular hiking area Bockeboda, which is located on the edge of Nävlingeåsen. Here you will encounter older broadleaf forests, large old oak trees and cairns that tell the story of the farmers' hardships and grazing animals of earlier times. In the hiking area there are resting places and hiking trails that take you around, one of them is accessible.
Horst with limestone streams
Nävlingeåsen is one of the Skåne mountain ridges, the so-called horsts. This horst rises 150 meters above sea level and the mountain is crossed by diabase, which has a volcanic origin. The calcareous material of the Kristianstad plain has been deposited on the northern side of the horst during the ice ages, which gives the area calcareous water in springs and streams.
Stone-rich cultural landscape
A stone wall with an archaic curved shape runs around large parts of the reserve. And in the area there are over 300 cairns and several large old trees that indicate that the land was previously more open. And they have. They have been the Uddarp farm's meadows with both fields and tree-bearing meadows. It is likely that the land has been farmed since the 11th century when it was first cleared of stones.
Ollonsvinens fields
During the 18th and 19th centuries, wolf hogs became popular. At that time, the focus was on having more oak and beech here too, which gave the pigs the coveted ollons. You can still see the old guinea pig pen in the middle part of the reserve. When this pig farming stopped, more modern forestry started. However, many of the old gnarled wolfberry trees still remain.
Gnarled old oak with Oxtung fungus
Today there is a beech forest with some oak, elm, lime and hornbeam. And several old oaks and beech trees from the ollon fungus era remain. The very large old beech trees in the area are about 200 years old, while the oldest oaks can be up to 400 years old.
The older trees are important for the area's rich fungal flora, but also for tree-dwelling lichens and insects. The beech trunks are home to the unusual species beech lichen and the coral tick fungus. The oak trunks are home to the rare lichen short-shafted parasitic spike and oxtongue fungus.
The forest of the yellowhammer and the blackcap
On the ground you can see white, yellow and bluebells. But there is also lungwort, lily of the valley, musk and green-white night violet. In the wetter areas, goldenrod, brook burnet, marsh marigold and brook veronica grow.
Among the birds, wood pigeons, green warblers, blackcaps and skylarks can be heard and seen. But these are also the forests of bats. Most of Sweden's bat species are found in this area.
Outdoor life
Uddarp is part of the Skånska Landscape Foundation's Bockeboda hiking area. An area that is very important for outdoor life. In Uddarp there is a large parking lot. Nearby there are toilets and a picnic area with picnic tables, benches and fireplaces. Remember to bring charcoal if you are going to barbecue and to take your rubbish home. The Accessible Trail (1.9 km) starts here and runs through old oak and beech forests and along stone walls. The longer Yellow trail (15 km in its entirety) runs between Bockeboda gården-Bockatorpet and Uddarps parking lot. Here you can choose to just walk the just over 2 km long circular trail within the reserve. In Uddarp there is also a bridle path (2.4 km, white) that runs on a nature trail. Throughout the Bockeboda hiking area there are more hiking opportunities and a mountain bike trail.

Welcome to Uddarp Nature Reserve
Uddarp is part of the popular hiking area Bockeboda which is managed by Stiftelsen Skånska Landskap and it is situated on the Nävlinge ridge. This is an older deciduous forest where old large oaks and the clearance cairns are what remains of the ardous work of farmers and grazing animals of the past.
Today you will find a beech forest with some elements of oak, elm, linden and hornbeam. The large old beech trees in the area are about 200 years old while the oldest oaks can be up to 400 years old. These older trees are important for the area's rich fungai but also for tree-dwelling lichens and insects. On the beech trunks you can see the unusual lichen Sylvia atricapilla and the fungus Hen of the woods. On oak trunks grow the rare lichen Sphinctrina and Beefsteak fungus.
On the forest floor, you can see Wood anemone, Yellow anemone and Liverleaf but there are also Suffolk lungwort, Lily-of-the-valley, Woodruff and Greater butterfly-orchid. Among the trees you might catch a glimpse of Stock dove, Wood warbler, Blackcap and Black woodpecker. This is also home to most of Sweden's bat species.
