Beskrivelse
From a landscape of vast virgin coniferous forests and mires, birch covered low fells rise, to reach just over 500 metres a.s.l. Pessinki is crossed by several deep cliff ravines, once chiselled out by masses of meltwater in the ice age. Saatukkakursu is the most impressive, with luxuriant vegetation along the stream at the foot of the ravine. Marjakursu in the south is another impressive ravine. The area is 972 square kilometres in size.

Kommunikasjon
Pessinki lies about 80 km north of Pajala. Logging roads lead into the area at Merasjoki and Koppelovaara and trails from Viikusjärvi and Suijavaara.

Forskrifter
All regulations can be found in the reserve decision. It is allowed to:
- camping
- hiking
- make a fire
- picking berries and edible mushrooms
- drive snowmobiles on well-snow-covered ground
- fishing and hunting in accordance with applicable laws
It is not allowed to harm plant and animal life. Remember the right of public access and protect nature!
Pessinki mountain primeval forest consists of an older nature reserve and several domain reserves. The nature reserve has retained its regulations, read more in the decision.
