Handlinger

Beskrivelse

The kilometer-long chalk-white sandy beach south of Höllviken, together with the area east of Falsterbokanalen, is part of the Kämpinge Strandbad nature reserve. A sand dune landscape and a sparse pine forest spread out along Kämpinge Bay's popular beach. Between the pine forest and the beach, hundreds of traditional bathing huts are lined up.

Sun, wind and water

The wind builds up the dunes and the vegetation keeps them in place. Close to the beach, sand reeds and beach rye grow to bind the sand. A dune system has been built up here that runs parallel to the beach. Further in towards the pine forest, the vegetation includes trift, beach wormwood, heath flowers and bluebells. Water primrose also grows among the dunes. In the past, water primrose was often planted to prevent sand drift, but the species, which does not occur naturally in Sweden, grows quickly and spreads rapidly, which means that it easily takes over large areas and threatens both native plants and animals.

Inside the dunes, with their backs to the forest, are the traditional bathing huts. The nature reserve also provides protection for marine life, with the reserve's boundary extending to a depth of three meters.

Secrets of the pine forest

Take a walk in the pine forest along the canal. Although the forest is really just a narrow strip of 100-150 meters, you can get the feeling of being far from the settlement. In summer, the forest is filled with the smell of resin and warm sand. In places, the ground is covered with lichens and mosses.

Hidden in the forest is a military-historical cultural landscape. It is the remains of the defense line that was supposed to protect Sweden during the Second World War, the so-called Per Albin Line. Gun emplacements and tank obstacles remain among the trees as memorial stones.

Outdoor life

In Kämpinge beach bath there are unmarked walking paths and a marked bridle path that takes you through the pine forest and down to the beach. This urban nature reserve is part of the popular, kilometer-long beach located in Kämpingebukten. There is a parking lot nearby and the nearest bus stop is Höllviken Höllvikstrand. Remember to take your rubbish home.

Kämpinge beach bath is one of nine nature reserves around the Falsterbo peninsula. There are good outdoor recreation opportunities in the area, including hiking, bird watching and swimming. The Skåneleden trail (SL5 Öresund, stages 20 and 21) takes you around the entire peninsula. Remember that the reserves have different regulations, so check what is allowed where you are.

In English

Welcome to Kämpinge Strandbad Nature Reserve

It is located on the sout coast of county Skåne.

Sun, wind and water

The wind builds up the sand dunes and the vegetation keeps them in place. Closest to the shore, marram and sea lyme grass grow, binding the sand together. A dune system has developed here that runs parallel with the beach. Rosa rugosa has commonly been used for binding sand. It is not a native species, and can easily take over larges areas, threatening the environment for both other plants and animals on the shore. Traditional beach huts can be found, lined up behind the sand dunes that back onto the forest. The nature reserve also provides protection for sea life as its borders extend out into the sea, to a depth of three meters.

The secrets of the pine forest

Take a walk in the pine forest alongside the canal. Although the forest is small, you get the feeling of being much further removed from civilization. In summer, the forest is filled with the aroma of resin and warm sand. Hidden in the forest is a cultural landscape that reminds us of Sweden's military history. Here can be found remains from the defense line that was intended to protect Sweden during the Second World War, the "Per Albin Line". Bunkers and antitank obstacles still lie amongst the trees, like commemorative headstones.
