Beskrivelse

Adjacent to Skåneleden and close to Osbeck's beech forests is the valuable wetland area of Svinamadsbäcken. The stream is important for the area and many different species grow along it.

Svinamadsbäcken was recognized when the mire protection plan was introduced in the mid-90s. It states: "Svinamadsbäcken and its surroundings consist of an unusually large wetland complex. The wetlands are shallow, terrain-following and consist of wet heaths, wet meadows, bogs and fens. The area contains a stream with a meandering and relatively undamaged course. The stream plays a central role in the hydrology of the area and the vegetation along it is rich. Among other things, meadow lilies, cuckoo flowers and crown moss grow there. Although haymaking and grazing ceased long ago, the old wet meadows are still completely open, except for a few scattered alder and birch bushes. In the northern part, there is a small medium-sized fen where there are lime-favored species such as mayweed, fleabane, meadow sedge, sedge grass, grass wool, marsh elder, small waterwort and a bottom layer with club moss and a number of other fen mosses. The fen has been mowed again for a few years.

Wetland forests and tall herb vegetation

Swamp forests are found along the upper course of Svinamadsbäckens and along Truedsfällsbäcken in the north. The swamp forest, especially around Truedsfällsbäcken, is heavily influenced by springs with elements of ash and with a rich tall herb vegetation of, among other things, woodland bengal, middle witch hazel, brook burnet, fern and goldenrod.

Juniper bushes and rice vegetation

The remnants of the old moorland landscape are not so extensive, as all the heather moors and field margins of the crown park were planted with spruce early on. A few small remnants remain on both parcels of Truedsfällan in the form of grassland. Since grazing ceased, these have grown back with birch, spruce, pine, rowan and some aspen, and many juniper bushes are dead or dying. But although the overgrowth has been going on for a long time, the forest is still sparse and patchy, often leaving plenty of room for viable juniper bushes and a splendid vegetation of heather, crowberry, lingonberry, bilberry and hemlock. On other land, there is sparse birch forest or deciduous and mixed forest with pine, birch, aspen, rowan and spruce. Closest to the terraced end of the farmland in the north is an elongated narrow slope with oak, beech, birch and hazel.

In the northern part of the reserve there are pastures and meadows that (like the deciduous swamp forests along Truedsfällsbäcken) belonged to the village's inägen.

Some spruce stands still remain in the south and southwest, but over large areas the spruce has been felled and replaced by clearings with herbaceous vegetation.

Nice place to visit

The still open wetlands, fields and a landscape unbroken by roads make the reserve an attractive destination. The Skåneleden trail passes nearby. The area is accessible by road from several directions.
