Information board number 8 tells about the Grissbach canal.
The hole in front of you is not a mine hole, but part of a 200 meter long underground canal. Further south, the canal runs above ground. Unlike his predecessors, Georg Grissbach built his canal in a fairly straight line from Lake Långforsen to the mine. The canal was completed in 1641, and the large water wheel in the main mining area now had enough power to drive all the mine's shafts and pumps. The mine thus enjoyed a new heyday.
