Beskrivelse
The forest is an old coniferous forest and it has been protected for its high nature values, which are linked to old and dead trees.
At Korsdalen, there is a deciduous natural forest with old coniferous forest in places. One pine has been determined to be just over 400 years old. Old aspens and birches are found here and there.
Animals and plants
Several unusual animals and plants are found in the area. The proximity to the forest lake and the surrounding closed old-growth forest contribute to high humidity in the local climate, which favors most demanding mosses and lichens. Here and there, the spruce forest is dense and in such areas, self thinning through competition, combined with insect and fungal attacks, has created a lot of dry trees and flames in patches. Dead wood provides food for insects, which in turn provide food for birds. Fresh species-typical hack marks of the endangered three-toed woodpecker are scattered throughout the old-growth forest.

Location: Värmland county, Årjäng municipality, 9 kilometers northeast of Årjäng.From Årjäng you drive about 5 km east on the E18 to the community of Tenvik. There you turn north and drive about 6 km to Björnsjön, which you then round and continue south past Björnsjöhöjden. After Björnsjöhöjden, turn east towards the lake Ned Tvängen, but continue only about 700 meters. The road barrier is closed.
Forskrifter
It is prohibited to:
- collect invertebrates, such as beetles, snails and butterflies
- collect mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- breaking branches, felling or otherwise damaging living or dead trees, standing and fallen trees, and bushes
- drive vehicles such as bicycles, tractors, snowmobiles and quad bikes
