Beskrivelse
Soil fungi that live together with spruce thrive here.
The nature reserve has been established to protect an area of nutrient-rich spruce forest, which is a relatively rare habitat type in protected areas in the county.
Animals and plants
Most of the nature reserve consists of moist valleys with moving groundwater in a greenstone-affected and hilly terrain. The fertile and alkaline soil in combination with the older spruce forest provides suitable conditions for a special flora of soil fungi that live in symbiosis with spruce. The endangered blue truffle fungus has been found in the area.

The reserve is located in Värmlands län, Säffle municipality, about 2 km northeast of Långserud.Directions: From Karlstad take road E18 towards Årjäng. In Långserud, turn right towards Långserud church. Drive about 400 m and turn right towards Strand. Then drive just over 1 km, turn right just before Strands gård. Follow the road for about 1 km to a Y-junction. The nature reserve's parking lot is just after and to the right of this junction.
Forskrifter
It is prohibited to:
- break branches, cut down or otherwise damage living or dead trees, standing and fallen trees, and bushes,
- driving vehicles, such as bicycles, tractors, snowmobiles and quad bikes.
Without the permission of the County Administrative Board, it is forbidden to:
- collect invertebrates, such as insects and mussels,
- collecting mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- making organized use of the area for commercial purposes,
- and for schools and institutions to regularly use the area for scientific or other research.
