Grönhult, Naturreservat

Handlinger
Beskrivelse
A reserve that is literally a reserve, for flora and fauna. Moist and sensitive as it is, it is neither adapted nor suitable for outdoor activities. There are rich marshes and limestone meadows here - some of our most species-rich natural environments. Grönhult is home to many endangered and rare species that thrive best in their own company. So watch from a distance and walk with caution.
Old meadowland
In older times, the farmers in the villages of Grönhult and Hörröd hayed in these fields. Like the small fields near the farms, the meadows were located in the so-called inägomarken. The grazing animals were not allowed in here until the hay and crops were harvested in late summer. The western part of the reserve belonged to the village of Grönhult and the eastern part to Hörröd. On an old map from 1784, the damp old meadow is called Ramskärr. The part covered with trees today was a field and was called Lille vång.
Meadow flowers and butterflies
The old meadowland Ramkärr can today be described as a rich marsh. This means that the soil is moist and rich in lime, but otherwise poor in nutrients. It is a very favorable environment for many meadow flowers, but also for mosses and shells. The flowers are rich and there are orchids such as corn cockle and marsh marigold, the late hay flower and cotton-like grass wool. There is also an abundance of mayweed and the insectivorous blanketwort. The brown mosses have names such as late scorpion moss and comb moss. In poorer areas there are white mosses with cranberry, round-leaved heather and heather. The eye-catching buttercups are also found here, as well as sedge grass, small-leaved waterwort and meadowsweet, which is so popular with butterflies.
The area is rich in butterflies. In Ramkärr and in nearby rich marshes there are species such as the six-spotted swallowtail, the lesser swallowtail, the silverwing and the sooty moth, as well as various blue butterflies.
Outdoor life
The reserve is very wet. There are no facilities for outdoor activities. Many of the meadow flowers are protected and sensitive to trampling. Observe from a distance and walk with caution. The nearest parking lot is at the nearby nature reserve Hörrödsåsen Link to another website..
