Beskrivelse

In 1452, the Danes conquered Sunnerbo and began constructing a fortress at Sundet, in the southern part of Lake Vidöstern, during the union conflicts of 1455. However, the fortress was never completed. You can catch a glimpse of the remains from the local heritage center and Sundet’s bathing area. The structure consists of a hill, with its southern portion cut by a dry moat—a waterless defensive trench. The area is also protected by a smaller moat and an embankment to the south. The moat was connected to the Lagan River, and there are traces of a similar moat to the north. No building remnants are visible on the hill. Perhaps this is because the Danes didn’t have time to finish constructing the castle before it was captured by the Swedes in the same year. Legend has it that the fortress received the ironic name “Danasorg”… From the 18th century, there’s a record that the castle was called Torsborg. The name likely derives from the nearby village of Torset
