Beskrivelse
There are old deciduous coniferous forests, bogs, rich marshes and spring marshes. Many colorful flowers thrive in the calcareous environment. There are also four limestone tufa springs, one of which is considered to be one of the most well-formed limestone tufas in the county. Kattögeltjärnen itself is a small pond on the eastern edge of the area.

Veibeskrivelse
The reserve is located 1.5 kilometers northeast of Strömsund. You turn off the E45 at Stormyrholmen, two kilometers north of the farms in Djupdalen. After four kilometers along this forest road you arrive at the reserve and its information board.
Forskrifter
Welcome to Kattögeltjärnen. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- capture, disturb or harm mammals, birds, frogs and reptiles, as well as damage their nests and spawning grounds or collect eggs
- picking and collecting species of any kind, except berries and edible mushrooms
- climbing nest trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 meters to a bird of prey's nest, roost or burrow
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make fires, except in specially designated places
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road throughout the area.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
