Beskrivelse

Risnosens nature reserve consists of three high mountains surrounding the clear Risnostjärnen lake. Here you can enjoy the silence and wilderness feeling, fish in the pond or walk along the path in the old forest. The forest in the nature reserve has been hit by storms in recent years, so be aware that it can be dangerous to walk among storm-felled trees. Risnosen is a 347-hectare mountain area dominated by old coniferous mixed forest and is located 35 kilometers west of Ljusdal. At its center is Risnostjärnen, which is surrounded by the mountains Risnosen, Gebbarsnosen and Degerkölsnosen. Adjacent to Risnostjärnen there is a windbreak and a barbecue area.

The forest in the nature reserve was affected by storms Dagmar (2011) and Ivar (2013). The strong winds broke or felled many trees, which are now scattered throughout the forest.

Within the nature reserve, the windfalls must not be sawn up and taken out, but left to slowly decay while giving different species the opportunity and space to live in the trees. In some places the trees are scattered, and in others many trees have fallen and formed large patches. Be aware that it can be dangerous to move around near and inside the tree breaks.

To get to the shelter by the pond, you can walk from both the eastern and western entrances. From the eastern entrance it is about 1 kilometer and from the western one about 2 kilometers.

Wood fungi worthy of protection

The area has plenty of dead wood and many red-listed species. The richer areas are home to orchids such as the woodruff and the green hillock. Among the lichens, you can find species such as violet-gray thorn lichen, coral lead lichen, jelly lichen and wolf lichen.

The scented tick, spotted spurge and cream spurge are some of the woodland fungi worthy of protection that can be seen in Risnosens nature reserve.
