Beskrivelse

Most of Hålåheden is a pine forest on large boulders. Here and there, birches, spruce and occasional willows grow. On several of the pine trees there are fire marks that show that the forest has been affected by several forest fires.

Many of the willow trees are home to the lungwort, proof that this is a biologically valuable forest.

Hålåheden also has quite a lot of dry trees, fire stumps, barns, high stumps, hollow stumps and coarse old moss barns. This is important for rare insects and birds to thrive.

A small stream runs along the south-eastern edge of the area. Here grows a coarse old herb-rich mixed forest with several coarse old dry trees.

The reserve is located about 14 km north of Furudal.

Forskrifter

Within the reserve it is not allowed to...

  • damage growing or dead - standing or fallen - trees, stumps and bushes, with the following exceptions for the collection of loose, small, dry branches and twigs for the purpose of making a fire

**Without permission from the County Administrative Board, it is also forbidden to

  • digging up plants, picking mosses, lichens and wood-living fungi or collecting animals (such as insects)
  • holding or conducting competitions, camps and other major or recurring organized events.
