Böls kyrka

"A whole church village, with a vicarage, bell tower and parish house", is how a man from Svärdsjö once described Böl's church with an artistic imagination. But this is a large-scale migratory block, brought here by the ice sheet some 10 000 years ago. Yes, it's not just one, but several, both smaller and larger. Imagine the tales our ancestors must have told to explain to their children how the boulders got here.

Böls Church, as this boulder is called, is more than 12 meters high. It leans like the famous Tower of Pisa and is narrower at the bottom. "It stands as if on end," wrote Karl-Erik Forslund in his book Med Dalälven från källorna till havet. He also thought that this was a "remarkable natural monument, worthy of protection". This was also done in 1931.

The road to Böls church is a pleasant walk. The well-trodden path runs through lean, blocky pine land and everywhere the lingonberry bushes are dense. If you hike here in berry season, you can easily grab a couple of handfuls of fresh lingonberries to quench your thirst. The whole hike takes about 20 minutes and you can manage without boots.

Once at Böls church, you can sit down on one of the smaller stones and eat your packed lunch. Then a few laps around the large boulder while thinking deep thoughts, similar to those of our ancestors. Just let your imagination run wild.
