Himlingeåsen

Himlingeåsen Nature Reserve is a ridge just under two kilometers long with a marked ridge, flowers and exciting insect life. The area offers a beautiful and easily accessible environment with cultural-historical features, such as stone circles and burial grounds. In spring and early summer, you can enjoy tar flowers and three color varieties of maidenhair that adorn the hillsides. The reserve consists of pastures and open grazing land, where extensive restoration has thinned the tree and shrub layer, creating a rich and varied flora.

Many pasture species thrive in Himlingeåsen, such as daisy, cowslip, wild rose and hogweed. The area's species-rich flora attracts a number of interesting insects, including the red-listed lesser and six-spotted bastard swarmers, as well as the moth, the virgin butterfly. A particular attraction is the rare drum grasshopper, which on hot August days can be seen and heard with its unique drum roll and red wings. The grazing animals help to keep the landscape open and preserve biodiversity.
