Lunnabjär, Naturreservat

Along the road between Nyhamnsläge and Arild, a hill covered in deciduous forest rises above the surrounding meadows and pastures. In spring, the ground is covered with a rich flora including spring onions, wood anemone, small-leaved helleborine and swallow-wort.

Oak wooded hill

Lunnabjär's nature reserve was established in 1960 to protect the landscape and to protect the area from being exploited as a gravel pit. The reserve consists of a ridge that is mostly covered with oak-dominated deciduous forest, but there is also a small area of natural pasture.

Bird life

Lunnabjär is a small reserve, but it is nevertheless an important element in the open agricultural landscape. Many small birds flock to the reserve and among the nesting birds can be mentioned, for example, yellow sparrow, warbler and blackcap.

Ancient monuments and folklore

In Lunnabjär there are two ancient graves from the Bronze or Iron Age. The hill itself is steeped in myth and, according to local legends, Lunnabjär rises every Maundy Thursday night and stands on four golden feet.
