Stabergs ö

Stabergs Island is one of Lake Runn's larger islands and lies like a green loaf in the northeastern part of Runn. Here a mixed forest with pine and spruce grows, but also parts with deciduous trees. The area is of great importance for outdoor life and is well visited all year round. In winter, the area is used extensively by skaters, skiiers and snowmobilingers as well as fishermen. In summer, the islands in Runn are visited mainly by boat and summer house owners, as well as kayak and canoe paddlers. Now a resting place is planned on the western side of Staberg Island.

Staberg's island has long since belonged to Lönnemossa bergsmansgård and the island was used for summer work for cattle and possibly even cultivation and mowing. Today, the two previously open farmlands are planted with spruce and the remains of a road that connects the cultivated land are still visible. The summer work on Staberg's island ceased during the 1950s / 1960s.

The whole island was calved in the early 1960s and then planted with pine and spruce. Since then, the island has basically been left alone, which has led to the trees standing tight and being rather small. Deciduous trees that have been removed in the forestry industry have been able to develop freely and today contribute with valuable variation. Especially the large element of aspen will contribute with high natural values ​​in the future. Traces of old roads and ditches linked to the former farmland contribute to structures in the area that raise both the natural and cultural value.

The bird life in the area is rich around and on Staberg's island. Seabirds that breed or are regularly found in the area during breeding time are beard doping, big grouse, small loam, big crack, small crack, fish tern and drill snapping. Other birds that occur in and out of the area are osprey, larch falcon, heron, game hook and capercaillie.
