Beskrivelse
The home of the knights in the Middle Ages. Lilla Tyresö is the name of the buildings that stand on the hill next to the castle. The history of the site is much older than the castle itself, as the knights used the hill to look out over the waterways in the Middle Ages - at that time Lilla Tyresö was just an islet surrounded by water. In the 15th century, the knight Gregers Mattson built the stone castle Tyresö hus, the remains of which you can still see here.
Today the buildings are an STF hostel, but they all have a history. Lakejvillan, the low yellow house, is the oldest of the buildings and the lord's footmen lived here. The white building is called the Prince's Villa because Prince Eugene used to rent it every summer. The latest addition is the Handelsboden, the large yellow house built at the end of the 19th century to serve as a shop - the first of its kind in Tyresö. To honor the medieval history of the place, Tyresö Medieval Days are celebrated every year.
