Beskrivelse
Hörrödsåsen, or Jären as it is also known, winds like a snake through the landscape. On the ridge of Jären, you can follow the Skåneleden trail through lush beech forests, from Hörröd-Agusa and on towards Andrarum. Perhaps you will see eye-catching oxtongue mushrooms or coral mushrooms on the old trees during the walk? Along the trail in the northeast, the Prästabarnens coffee cave is hidden, perfect for a coffee break.
Jären - a highly resistant pebble ridge
Hörrödsåsen nature reserve is located on the pebble ridge called Jären. It is a ridge with a very narrow crest and steep sides, making it a so-called goat ridge - the largest in eastern Skåne.
The coffee cave of the priest children
Near Hörröd church, in the eastern part of the reserve, is the cultural heritage site Prästabarnens kaffegrotta. The coffee cave dates from the early 1900s and is said to have been built by the children of the vicar at the time. This stone recess is perfect for relaxing and having a coffee.
Beech forest with dead wood
The reserve consists mainly of nutrient-rich beech forest. The abundance of old and dead trees has given rise to a rich flora and fauna. Many unusual and red-listed lichens can be found in this part of the reserve, including the pincushion lichen and the beech wart lichen. The red-listed fungi oxtongue mushroom and coral tag mushroom also occur here.
Swamp forest and marshes
There are deciduous swamp forests with high natural values in the hollows along the goat ridge. Here grow, among other things, goldenrod, brook sedge and marsh marigold. Near the swamp forest there are also marshes with strongly fluctuating water levels. The great crested newt thrives in the marsh's water collection.
Outdoor life
The steep and long pebble ridge Jären runs from Hörröd down towards Andrarum. Up along the ridge runs Skåneleden. Along Skåneleden, just after Hörröd church, is the cultural heritage Prästabarnens kaffegrotta. A good place for a coffee break. Remember to take your rubbish home. Parking is available at the church.
In English
Welcome to Hörrödsåsen Nature Reserve
The esker snakes its way through the landscape. On top of the ridge, also known as Jären, you can walk from Hörröd to Agusa through verdant beech forests. Enjoy the grove flowers and take a break in the Prästabarnens coffee cave.
At the foot of the esker are damp deciduous swamp forests with dark water mirrors. Old giant oaks and tall beech trees grow in dry areas. The forests contain an abundance of dead wood and old trees. Woodpeckers, such as black woodpecker and green woodpecker, thrive here. The area is also home to rare lichens and fungi, including the lichens Opegrapha vermicellifera and Pyrenula nitida, and beefsteak fungus.
