Romanäs - Västra promenaden 1 km

Västra promenaden in Romanäs is one of the paths built to facilitate forest walks for the tuberculosis patients who were once treated at Romanäs sanatorium. You can still see how the path has been wound like a serpentine through some steeper sections and reinforced by stone terraces. The walk today takes you through the different habitats of the nature reserve. You start by walking through a lush oak forest, then continue through darker coniferous forest, where you can make a detour to Västra utsikten and get a long view out over Lake Sommen all the way over to Norraby. The latter part of the Western walk goes through beautiful pasture land that is still grazed by animals.
