Åbonäs/Katarp offers high natural values and wonderful opportunities for fishing, birdwatching, hiking and enjoying nature. On the Katarp side along the Svartån river, there is a trail with footbridges over wet areas out towards the mouth of Säbysjön. Platforms and a picnic/barbecue area right next to the water bring you very close. On the Åbonäs side, the terrain is a little more rugged, but in spring there is a sea of white anemones that provide a powerful nature experience. If you are hiking from Åbonäs, you should check out the viewpoint before you plunge down the slopes towards Svartån.

The easiest way is to take road 32 south from Tranås, turn left at Mölarp, continue under the railroad, take Zinkgatan over Svartån and turn right when you see the sign Åbonäs säteri. When you arrive at the manor, turn right, park on the left when you pass the gate posts. If you have a lot of equipment, there is a parking lot at the end of the road down by Svartån. Otherwise, follow Holaveden's orange markings into the forest and down the slope. Keep to the right when you come down, follow the path to the road, over the bridge and around the houses. Here you then follow the trail with blue marked posts out to footbridges, platforms and barbecue area.

åbonässidan är mycket riktigt bökig och lerig, föreslår stövlar. bäst ta bilen lite längre och parkera innan bron över svartån och därifrån gå mot grillplats mm
