Beskrivelse

Hyltan is located along the Börjeån valley. Here grows old beech forest and swamp forest with well-developed plinths. In spring, bird life is rich. With a little luck, you can hear the beautiful song of the lesser flycatcher.

Hyltan's forests are rich in mosses and lichens. Some of the species are so-called signal species, which indicate that there has been deciduous forest in the area for a long time. The old untouched beech forest in the reserve is a remnant of the continuous deciduous forests of Tönnersjöheden in the 17th century. This can also be seen on maps from 1650 and 1920 where Hyltan is marked as forest. During the 19th century, large heather moors spread out in the surroundings, but since Hyltan consists of a difficult-to-access ravine, it is likely that the forest was preserved here even during this time.

Forskrifter

To protect the nature reserve, the County Administrative Board has decided on special regulations, including those that you as a visitor to the area must follow and respect.

In addition to what applies under other legislation, it is forbidden to:

  • damage living or dead, standing or lying trees and shrubs and damage the vegetation in general, e.g. by digging up plants,
  • driving motorized vehicles or off-road bicycles
  • affixing a board, poster, sign or similar device
  • marking out tracks
  • organizing an orienteering test or competition that may disturb the natural environment.
