In the upper foyer of the Cultural Center we can meet a figure whose picture hangs on one of the walls. The person in question appears to be young, a child. The person in front of us is dressed in various shades of pink, including a down jacket, a dress, a tiara and tights. The colors and clothing establish a naive, light-hearted mood.

The face we meet and the expression we can read in it are in sharp contrast to the light, bright colors. The child's face rests in a palpable darkness, yet we can clearly feel the penetrating gaze that comes from the little person. The mouth is also clenched.

Is it a child caught up in his own thoughts? Or has something just happened that has made the child aware of the darkness of the adult world? Is it something innocent or threatening we encounter? Are we the threat or the one in front of us?

The artwork is by Elin Elfström from Årsunda, who has become known for her paintings, which are often in the form of portraits. Elfström also works with installations and sculptural objects.
