If you want to hike through a truly beautiful rocky pine forest where lichens grow abundantly on the ground, you’ve come to the right place. A Mountain Shaped by the Sea

The summit of Blåberget reaches 196 meters above sea level, which is close to the highest level ever reached by the sea surface (highest coastline). As a result, this mountain has been heavily eroded by wave action, so that bare, often nearly flat rock slabs dominate the mountain’s summit. Down the slope lies a heavily eroded, boulder-rich moraine.

Old Pines and Large Junipers

The forest is a beautiful rocky pine forest where the pines are around 10 meters tall and 150 to 300 years old. Here you’ll find old, large junipers and a rich variety of lichens characteristic of rocky terrain. In the nature reserve, you can also experience a rich bird life with species such as the great spotted woodpecker, crossbill, and capercaillie. Within the boundaries, there is also a lovely small lake surrounded by coniferous swamp forest and marshland.
