Bolinderberget

Although Bolinderberget is close to both the beach and the station, few people find their way here. Perhaps this is because there is a steep path up. It is easier to follow the paths that go around the mountain. Up on the mountain are crooked pines that have been bent in the wind.

Old important trees

Many of the pines here are over 200 years old, as you can see from the flat crowns. You can look out for the fastidious fungus pine tick, which mainly grows on pines that are over 150 years old. The pine shoot is often found high up on the trees where it stands out like a brown disk.

The industry that built Kallhäll

Bolinders moved its foundry and mechanical workshop from Kungsholmen to Kallhäll in the early 1900s. The move meant that Kallhäll's railway station was opened and a community grew up. Bolinders manufactured everything from meat grinders to electric stoves. Today, several of the old brick industrial buildings remain down by Bolinder beach.

Want to wander further?

Kallhäll station is close to the Upplandsleden trail. If you walk north, you can go to Bonäsbadet or Ängsjö. To the south, the trail goes through Görvälns nature reserve. You can follow it through the forest to Görvälns Castle.
