Beschreibung

Tarrekaise-Njunjes, 7 km

This is a short, strenuous stretch regardless of the direction travelled. The surface is rocky and becomes muddy in the rain. The hike begins in dense, verdant mountain birch forest. Tall vascular plants grow here – Alpine Blue Sow-thistle, Angelica, Wolf’s Bane and Rosebay Willowherb. From the precipice Hilldo, the trail runs closer to the north shore of Lake Tarraure and then skirts the next lake, Luoppal. Then you begin to climb to a bare plateau with a view. The hike then continues down a steep, rocky slope as far as the Njunjes Cabin.

There are tent pitches around the eastern part of Tarraure, in some forest glades along the trail, and at the river.

Duration: 2-4 hours

Njunjes-Kvikkjokk, 12 km + 3 km by boat

The trail passes waterlogged ground and then continues into an area of mixed forest. At the mountain homestead Njunjes the trail crosses a haymaking meadow. After this settlement, the rest of the hike is mostly through coniferous forest. At Njunjesjåhkå stream, a kilometre wide alluvial fan is passed. An alluvial fan is a deposit of gravel, sand and mud that has been washed down from higher areas. Soon after it, the trail crosses a haymaking meadow at the Bäcken homestead. Next comes a rocky and monotonous stretch through coniferous forest. After the bridges over Vallebäcken stream (Vállegårsså), the trail continues through moist, mosquito infested waterlogged forest as far as the boat landing at Bobäcken stream. On the site there is a stopover cabin with a telephone for ordering a boat. The boat otherwise follows a timetable and travels along the clear waters of the river Tarraätno as far as Kvikkjokk. You can alternatively continue the tour for another 4 km along an indistinct trail to Gamájåhkå stream opposite Kvikkjokk. However, crossing the stream demands boat transport – it cannot be waded.

Duration: 3-5 hours
