Trollkyrka

One kilometer south of Andsjön there is a return trail of about 500 m up to Trollkyrkobergen. Here you are in the middle of the most untouched parts of Tiveden. Trollkyrkoberget is said to have been used as a meeting place for one of the earlier free church movements in the 1800s. The movement was banned by the Church of Sweden and had to hold its meetings in secret.

The area is completely unaffected by forestry measures, but wear and tear from visitors has affected the lichen mats in significant areas. Those who want to get a good view of Tiveden can climb the mountain, Stora Trollkyrka, which is located immediately north of the point where the cul-de-sac reaches the loop through the reserve.
