Biosfärleden Etapp 5 Trolmen-Hällekis

Stage 5 runs from Trolmen to Hällekis on the north-western part of the Kinnekulle plateau. This stretch is one of the finest on the entire Biosphere Trail with both beautiful nature that shows the biodiversity that characterizes the entire Biosphere Reserve and several cultural attractions. You pass several attractions on this stretch.

Stage number 5 starts at Trolmen station. The sights on this stretch are many and three are in close succession. First you pass Råbäcks Hamn where the first thing you are struck by is the beautiful location right on the shores of Lake Vänern. Here you will also find Råbäcks Mekaniska Stenhuggeri, an industrial monument from the late 19th century. As you continue north, you walk through beautiful cliff edges and reach a staircase. The trail goes upwards, but feel free to take a detour and look a little below the stairs. There you will find one of Västra Götaland's most valuable nature reserves, Munkängarna, which is best known for the ramson bloom in late spring. When you go up again, you reach Stora Stenbrottet, with its 40 meter high rock walls. Lime was quarried here, mainly for cement production, for almost 100 years until the end of the 20th century.

Just a few kilometers from this place you walk in a beautiful avenue towards another of Kinnekulle's manors, Hellekis Säteri. This is best known for its magnificent garden, which dates back a long way and was praised by Carl von Linne on his visit. Soon you will also pass Kinnekulle Camping and arrive at the shore of Lake Vänern where the stage ends with a lovely passage along Söckeviken that runs right on a cliff edge towards the water before it is time to turn inwards for the last bit towards Hällekis community.
