The 2014 forest fire was a violent and intense fire. All the forest in the entire reserve burned very badly. Some of the trees have fallen down, some are left as black-burnt pillars. The fire was so intense that much of the ground cover also burned up, leaving rocks and stones completely free of soil and moss. With each passing year, more and more greenery is returning.

There are no outdoor facilities in the nature reserve, but if you have a sturdy pair of boots, you can walk among the blackened trees. If you climb the steep and rocky Hobergsklacken at the parking lot, you get a dramatic view of the fire area. However, remember to be careful when visiting the area. Trees and branches fall more easily in the fire-affected forest than in a normal forest - especially if it is windy.

Stora Hoberget is located about 1.5 miles southeast of Norberg. Drive on road 68 from Norberg towards Örebro. Turn left at the sign "Sala" to road 256. Drive about 16 kilometers. Turn right at the sign "1 Korset" in Örbäck. Drive 4 kilometers until you reach a parking lot at a turnaround.

There are rules that you as a visitor must follow. The rules are there to protect the area's natural values.

It is forbidden to:

camping
making fires
ride bicycles or horseback,
climbing trees or otherwise intentionally disturbing wildlife,
felling or otherwise damaging living or dead trees and shrubs, and damaging vegetation or natural objects in general, for example by collecting plants or mushrooms, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms for domestic use
collecting insects or other invertebrates
putting up a board, sign, poster, orientation control or other markings, or permanently marking trails
use the area for organized competitions or exercises or similar purposes
bring an unleashed dog or other stray pet
change the composition of the flora or fauna by introducing new species to the area.
