Beskrivelse
Lisjö and Larsansjö mills had their heyday in the 18th century. The pig iron was brought from the ironworks around Smedjebacken, Fagersta and Norberg. The heavy iron haulage was mostly carried out by crofters under Lisjö manor, in winter with the help of horses and oxen.
The blacksmith's shop produced scythes, axes, horseshoes, oxen shoes, sewing, nails, fittings and much more. There was a railway between Lisjö Mill and Surahammar called the Lisjö Railway. In 1795, the owner of the mill, Warner Groen, had a church built for the benefit of the mill workers. In the building, which today is what remains from the mill era, there were also seven blacksmiths' dwellings with kitchens and chambers. On weekdays, the upper floor of the church was used as a schoolroom.
In 1880, the church was transferred to the Sura parish, which had it renovated in 1925. The solemn rededication was held by the then Bishop Einar Billing. The bell tower was built in 1928.
Lisjö Mill Church has been managed by the Lisjö Mill Church Foundation since 1979.
