Beskrivelse
In this tunnel cave, it is only possible to enter the opening of the cave due to the collapse of rocks. The cave consists of a 12 m long open crevice leading into a 6 m long and over 5 m high cave. In the lower parts, both cave walls are well rounded. The inner part is covered by debris from the cave roof.
The cave is called Munthe's Cave. It is named after the geologist Henrik Munthe, who visited this cave in 1920.
This tunnel cave is well hidden in one of the gorges at the north-eastern border of the reserve. Tunnel caves are only found in Scandinavia's primeval mountains on steeply sloping mountainsides towards the sea. Most of them are found from the High Coast to Nordmalingstrakten. Tunnel caves are rounded crevice caves that have been shaped by the fact that while material has ground and widened the cave walls, land uplift has meant that the cave has ended up higher and higher from the shoreline.
