Tio toppar Tavelsjö - Krogberget

Krogberget is a typical Umeå mountain. Only when you are at the top do you see how high it is. There are several caves on the mountain. One of them was once used by goats and cattle. It is also rumored that a newlywed couple once celebrated their wedding night here. The most macabre story of the mountain is about murder. Two Russians, left behind after the 1809 war, stole a cow in Trehörningen. On a bog at Krogberget, the servant caught up, took the cow, killed the Russians and buried them in the bog. Feel free to look further from the top of the mountain to the northwest slope. There is a large boulder field. It was the ice sheet that pressed against the mountain and deposited a large blocky moraine. From the boulder field you have a nice view of Lake Tavelsjön. Today there is Tavelsjö snowmobile club's nice resting cabin up on the mountain.
