Beskrivelse
The reserve is located in Torsby municipality and offers an outdoor experience in a nature unaffected by modern forestry.
Uggenäs nature reserve is located about seven kilometers southwest of Branäs. The protected area is approximately 104 hectares in size and consists of woodland, mire and swamp forest. The site has great biodiversity and so far 18 signal species and 19 red-listed species have been found, including the spotted spurge, cream spurge and knotweed.
Most of the area will be left to develop freely, but some parts will be managed through controlled burns. There are also plans to eventually make the area more accessible to those who want to visit the reserve.
Animals and plants
The reserve contains species associated with older dead wood, as well as species associated with older deciduous trees and forests with high and even humidity. In addition, there are species associated with so-called silverwood and charred wood from previous fires.

Rutevejledning
Location: Värmlands län, Torsby municipality, about 8 kilometers west of Branäs. Drive about 4.8 kilometers north from Nyskoga. Turn right and follow the gravel road for about 9 kilometers and cross Ljusnan. After the bridge over Ljusnan, drive another 500-600 meters and turn right.
Follow the road for about 2.2 kilometers and park at the side of the road.
Regler
In the area it is forbidden to:
- cutting down or otherwise damaging living or dead trees or bushes, standing or fallen
- drive a motorized vehicle
- tipping or arranging storage sites,
- digging or pulling up vascular plants
- damage, move or remove rock, earth or stone
- bringing dogs that are not on a leash
- collecting invertebrates, mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- carrying out organized competitions or outdoor activities.
