Beskrivelse
Here you can enjoy many special species and also get a mile-wide view from Torrknölen's 580 meter high mountain top.
From the access road that runs around the north side of the mountain, you can see lichen-covered pines in a large blocky forest. Higher up on the slopes, the pine forest changes into an old spruce forest with lots of aspen, willow and birch in places. Traces of older fires can be found in the reserve.
The reserve was established to preserve and manage a large natural forest area. The area is part of the EU's network of protected areas, Natura 2000.
Animals and plants
The deciduous coniferous forest with its many dead trees favors rare and demanding natural forest species such as lichens and mosses, fungi, insects and birds. Among the species that thrive here are the rose thistle, broktagel, lung lichen and three-toed woodpecker.
Facilities
There is an information board. The reserve is otherwise not adapted for visitors.
The area is difficult to access in parts.

Rutevejledning
Location: N Värmland, Torsby municipality, about 14 km NW of Höljes.Drive road 62 from the south towards Sysslebäck/Trysil. Turn into Höljes and follow the sign to the power plant. Drive about 14 km past the Höljes dam and continue along the lake on a good gravel road, where you round the foot of the mountain, until the forest road at the eastern side of the reserve. Park down by the road and walk 100 m up to the reserve. The area is difficult to access at times.
Regler
In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- collect invertebrates, such as beetles and land snails
- collecting mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- damaging or removing trees and shrubs, including dead wood such as lying and standing dry trees and dry branches
- drive vehicles other than for the transportation of felled moose
- damage or remove natural objects or surface formations or damage the ground cover
- to make organized use of the area for commercial purposes, and for schools and institutions to make regular use of the area for research purposes.
