"Rygg mot rygg" (Back-to-Back) by Liv Due

The sculpture was exhibited during the sculpture exhibition "Hake and Due in the Centre" in Arvika in 2006 and was then acquired by Arvika Municipality.

When observing the sculpture "Back-to-Back", one can discern two figures suggested in the material and form. On closer inspection, different types of stone can be seen in the two figures, which reinforces the impression of duality. On both sides of the figures are elements shaped from wood that resemble carrying chairs or litters.

The Artist: Liv Due

Liv Due is a Norwegian sculptor working in Sweden. She is active as a sculptor, painter, and illustrator, and studied at the Bergen School of Arts and Crafts, the National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, and the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.

In her work, she explores the tactile and sensual, often with humorous undertones. Her sculptures in stone, bronze, and grass usually portray various states of being.
