Getgarsudde, Naturreservat

Beskrivelse
The rocky outcrops and embankments at Getgarsudde are a great destination for those who want to enjoy Lake Vänern's beaches without having to go by boat.
The outer parts of the reserve are characterized by extensive shingle fields and series of beach embankments. The southern, eastern and northeastern shores consist of rocky areas with windswept forest vegetation. The northern shore, Sandviken, is mostly covered with reeds. The western part of the reserve consists of varied forest stands. The terrain here is strongly broken by mountain ridges and valleys and alternates between lean and fertile areas.
The reserve was established to preserve an attractive section of the Vänern coast in an unchanged state and to preserve the area's interesting surface forms and beach vegetation. The area is part of the Natura 2000 area Värmlandsskärgården, which is part of the EU's ecological network of protected areas, Natura 2000.
Keep an eye out for osprey and sea eagles, which are often seen hunting around the headland. The area is also home to many of Vänern's typical seabirds, such as the graylag goose, little auk and common loon. The shingle beaches and mighty rock formations are a challenge for those who choose to "jump from rock to rock".
Facilities
In the nature reserve there is a marked trail about 2.5 kilometers long. The hiking trail is relatively hilly and can be described as moderately difficult. It is not possible to get around with a pram on the trail.
Warning for falling trees
Be aware of dead trees in your vicinity when walking in the nature reserve, especially when it is windy.
As a result of the 2018 drought and subsequent bark beetle infestation
many spruce trees are currently dying in the nature reserve. Dead trees, twigs or tree tops can fall suddenly and silently.
We will remove the most dangerous trees at rest areas and trails as we go. Please respect any barriers.
Caution! Falling trees
Beware of standing dead trees in the area, especially when it is windy. Dangerous trees close to hiking trails and rest areas will be removed gradually.
